Incentive cleans up at BMI
BMI airline has appointed Incentive QAS on a three-year cleaning services contract. The deal covers two main locations: BMI's head office building in Donnington and its hangar and workshops at the nearby East Midlands Airport; and its training centre, hangar, offices and check-in areas at Heathrow Airport. BMI was previously using two contractors for this work. Incentive says the decision to award both operations to a single provider was based on its ability to eliminate inefficiencies, increase service delivery and obtain maximum added value.
Commenting on the decision, BMI's Peter Bell said: “We wanted a contractor who could provide us with the depth and breadth of cleaning skills required for this varied portfolio including deep cleaning, washroom services, office and window cleaning. Incentive QAS combines these skills with a fresh and innovative approach that is supported by very experienced managers and strong processes, so they were a clear winner in the tender process.”
The company will service the contract with a team at East Midlands Airport working an early morning, daytime and evening shift with cleaning in the workshop areas being done in addition at weekends. At BMI's locations at Heathrow, a team will be working 24/7. All employees will have full airside security clearance. Incentive FM managing director Jeremy Waud described the contract as ‘hotly contested'.
