Carillion seals Land Registry FM deal

Leading support services company Carillion has finalised a deal which will see it take over delivery of facilities management for Land Registry. This is the first time Land Registry has taken the decision to fully outsource these services and, in doing so, is set to realise substantial cost savings.

The contract – awarded and signed in December 2010 – commences in April 2011 for an initial five-year period. The conclusion that Carillion offered best value for money was reached after examining information from seven bidders and a Land Registry internal comparator, which evaluates similar services against commercial proposals.

“Working in partnership with Carillion is an exciting prospect,” commented Land Registry head of facilities Jan Lloyd. “Throughout the procurement process they have consistently demonstrated an understanding of the changes Land Registry is facing and I’m confident that they will bring a wealth of experience to managing facilities.”

Carillion’s facilities management division employs more than 19,000 people, with between 70 and 80% of its revenue from the public and regulated sectors.

As a member of the Buying Solutions Framework for facilities management, Carillion was invited to participate in a procurement process with Land Registry. Land Registry in-scope estate comprises approximately 37 premises in England and Wales totalling some 196,500 square metres, and including office space, data centres and file stores.

Carillion will deliver a range of traditional hard and soft FM services for Land Registry at these locations, with a raft of additional services including space and move management, and business continuity management.

Carillion will act as a single point of responsibility for the management and delivery of this fully-integrated suite of services and will undertake, as an integral part of Land Registry’s key objectives for this deal, to drive both continuous improvement and the development of innovative services solutions, as well as achieving a reduction in costs, enabling Land Registry to carry out its business functions both effectively and efficiently.

Richard Sykes, managing director of Carillion’s Facilities Management business, was delighted to formally sign the contract, commenting: “I am extremely proud that Land Registry has selected Carillion as its preferred partner. We strongly believe this is a reflection of our acknowledged ability to form a true partnership with our customers.

“We work hard to understand every aspect of a customer’s business in order to establish a high-quality service that is specifically tailored to suit their needs. Most crucially in the current climate, though, we do this at a level that still enables cost-saving targets to be achieved, and allows the customer to deliver its main business purpose unhindered.”
